Pretty & Inked ~ Submissions & The Cost of Film

I never wanted to blog words on this site, only the beautiful ladies and the art they wear.  But an occasion has arose where it seems necessary.

I started this project with two goals in mind.

One:  To photograph tattooed women in a soft and feminine fashion…like the women they are.

And two:  To shoot them in film.  Simply because it is soft and beautiful like the images I want to create.

So here’s where my problem comes in.  When the project first started it was slow going at first, a few ladies here or there…not a big deal financing the cost of film and developing on my own.  But as this project has grown the cost to maintain its film roots has grown too.

And here is my only option at this point to save the integrity of what I’ve begun:  The submissions accepted into the project will be reduced.  Only new concepts, ideas or unique looks can be considered for a session paid for by Pretty & Inked.  But what this does do is opens the doors for ladies who have wanted to shoot with the project but either due to an influx of free shoots or other factors, their submission to be photographed “on the house” was declined.

I simply want to create.  Pretty & Inked was never about making money.  With that being said, any moderately heavy to heavily tattooed lady who wants to be part of the project can now do so.  The only things the ladies have to agree to do is to cover the cost of time, materials such as film, the development of the film and their wardrobe.  They will also still be required to sign a model release in order to use the images created online.  Because after all this project is intended to be shared.

If you’d like to participate and be a part of the Pretty & Inked project, please fill out the contact form on this blog or the main Pretty & Inked site.  All sessions will be quoted on a case by case basis, determined by the number of rolls of film each girl wishes to use.

And thank you to those who have helped to support the growth of this project.  Its reception has been mind-blowing and I am forever grateful for the continued love and eagerness to take it further!
